Picad`s looking for a talented engineer; You should be a motivated tech generalist. Experience in high-performance, transactional environments is a significant plus. We`re looking for people that are smart, self-motivated and interested in technology. You will need to be comfortable and eager to work on what is needed and learn what is necessary, in a fast-moving, dynamic environment. We have an endless whiteboard of projects that need to completed yesterday!
What will you be working on?
As a hands-on Software Engineer for Picad Media, you will help develop and maintain the scalable data services platform upon which our ad network is built. You will also have responsibility in maintaining the integrity of our high-volume databases and improving the overall system to increase fault tolerance. The position involves both administration activities supporting mission-critical products and architectural skills contributing to the design of next-generation applications.
- Improving our ad transactions platform that processes millions of transactions a day
- Building cutting edge analytics that the team will use to make critical business decisions
- Work on optimizations and tools for our ad targeting and relevancy engine to provide better quality to our thousands of publishers
- Architect large scale data-mining applications that will sift through hundreds of millions of data points utilizing the latest technologies
Skill sets:
- Must have 5+ years of object-oriented coding experience; at least 2+ years using PHP.
- 3+ years working with relational database systems and distributed database archictectures; MYSQL mandatory.
- Assist in development of tools to aid in business analysis; experience with HaDoop is a huge plus!
- Expert knowledge of RDBMS concepts including query and data model optimization covering indexing, bitmaps, query plans, data file organization, etc
- Comfortable working with linux operating systems
- Familiar with various front-end technologies such as javascript, css and xhtml is a plus.
- Experience in environments where engineers play a direct role in conceptualizing product requirements.
- Experience developing CRM systems, back-end tools, and reporting.
- Experience with building or working with distributed, network-connected systems
- Good spoken and written communication skills; Strong supportive team orientation
Education
BS or MS in Computer Science or related degree
